Half a year later, the gang had their end years exams and were waiting for their results.
Charlene: Oooh... I’m so nervous. Wonder how is my results?
Gillian: Me too. My hands are shaking now.
Edison: Chill down, man.
Alex: Why did we come here so early? This waiting business is driving me crazy.
Edison: It was supposed to be out at nine. It's now 9.05 already.
Cindy: Who's the one nervous now? (nudging Edison)
Edison: What? Me? Nervous? Never in my life!
Alex: Really?
Edison: Can the both of you stop ganging up on me?
Charlene: You guys still have the mood to quarrel?
Gillian: Yeah! This is serious business.
Roy: Hey!
Charlene: Roy?
Roy: The results are not out yet? Here, i bought some breakfast for all of us.
Alex: Thanks Roy. The girls were pushing me the whole morning until i don't even have time for breakfast.
Roy: You guys are sure early. I came right after Charlene's call.
Cindy: Gillian was the one doing the pushing. I told her that we should come at 9.30.(munching her sandwich)
Gillian: The early bird gets the worm.
Cindy: I don't want worms.
Edison: (passing Gillian a bun) Lame joke.
Cindy: None of your business!
Charlene: It's here! (saw some people putting up some papers on the notice board)
Roy: Yeah.
Gillian: Let's go see.(tugging Edison who was busy drinking)
Edison: (almost spilled his drink) Wait! Don't pull!
Alex: (looking at the not moving Cindy) Aren’t you going?
Cindy: Don't worry. Charlene will check for all of us. By the way, it's so crowded now, i rather not squeeze.
Alex: Oh. (caught a glimpse on someone) Shawn's here.
Shawn: Hi! I'm not late, am i?
Cindy: What do you think?
Shawn: Where's the others?
Alex: Where's Yumiko?
Shawn: She'll join us for lunch. She told me to check her results for her.
Cindy: I see.
Shawn: You guys are not going to check?
Cindy: My results will come to me.
Shawn: Huh?
Cindy: It's coming already.
Charlene: Cindy, you'd got all A's and Alex, you got a B, the rest are A's.
Alex: I see. Thanks Charlene.
Cindy: See. Understand now?
Shawn: Yes. I'll go check mine now.
Gillian: Wow! it was such a crowd.
Edison: (panting) Yeah. I was just like a sardine just now, being squeezed here and there. And i didn't even get to see my results.
Cindy: Not to worry. Charlene, did you check Ed's results?
Charlene: Yup! 2B's, same as mine.
Edison: Oh thanks. If i had known that you will check it for me, i wouldn't have to go squeeze with the crowd.
Alex: Ok now. Everyone is back in the gang? Where's Roy?
Charlene: In the washroom.
Alex: Oh.
Shawn: Hey! i got 2B's.
Edison: Shawn? When were you here?
Shawn: Just now.
Gillian: Where's Yumiko?
Shawn: She had something on. She said she'll join us for lunch and it's her treat.
Cindy: that's great!
Lunchtime,
Shawn: Hey! Over here! (waving to the group)
Edison: Shawn and Yumiko are over there. (pointing towards them)
Alex: Hi!
Gillian: It's the first time you're not late, Shawn.
Shawn: No way.
Cindy: Yes way. Tell me when are you early when we call you out? Or just not late because you're never early.
Shawn: There are. Just give me some time to think.
Gillian: I'll give you tomorrow and i bet you still won't have an answer.
Yumiko: Ok now. What do you guys like to have for lunch?
Alex: (whispers to Cindy) You'll just have to stop picking on Shawn already. Yumiko is shielding him.
Cindy: (whispers back) Oh, i see.
Charlene: Yumiko, why weren't you with us when the results are out?
Yumiko: Oh, i have to accompany my grandmother to the hospital for her check up. You know old folks need to do their check ups frequently.
Charlene: Oh. That's so nice of you.
Roy: Oh ya. What are you guys' plans after this? College?
Gillian: Should be. What else then?
Edison: All of us, going college?
Roy: At least i am.
Charlene: Me too.
Cindy: I think so too.
Shawn: Count me in.
Yumiko: I should be too.
Alex: Wow! All of us are going to college. Let's go to the same one. Then we'll still have our gang.
Edison: I agree.
Shawn: Yeah! Next stop, college!

Chapter 23
That day after school,
Shawn was talking with his brother.
Shawn: You don't reach home too late. Mum will be worried and asking here and there
about her precious son.
Steven (Cheung but in this story, Yue): Ok. Stop nagging. I'm just going for football
practice.
Shawn: Weird thing here. We are brothers and one of us like basketball while the other
one like football and both are not interested in each interest.
Yumiko: Shawn!
Shawn: hi, Yumiko.
Steven: New girlfriend?
Shawn: What do you mean? I never have a girlfriend. She's my first one.
Steven: Really?
Shawn: Yumiko, this is my brother, Steven. Steven, this is Yumiko.
Yumiko: hi.
Steven: Nice to meet you.
They both shook hands.
Shawn: So formal?
Yumiko: This is manners. (Push his head gently)
Steven: I can't talk now. Got to go. Practice is starting. See you.
Yumiko: Ok.
Shawn: Remember to go straight home after practice.
Steven: Yes. Long-winded!
Yumiko: That reminds me! The others are waiting for you at the front gate.
Shawn: Oh yeah! I'm late.
At the front gate,
Gillian: He's late again. As usual.
Shawn: (rushing through the crowd) Excuse me, coming through.
Edison: There he is. (Pointing at Shawn)
Gillian: Shawn Yue! Can't you be early for just once?
Shawn: Yikes! Sorry.
Yumiko: He was talking to his brother.
Alex: Oooo... Girlfriend defending him.
Charlene: Don't bully her.
Cindy: So, where do you guys want to go for lunch?
Shawn and Charlene: Anywhere.
They stared at each other. Charlene blushed hard.
Edison: Looks like you two are really well-coordinated.
Gillian: Don’t crap! Both of them have someone.
Edison: (glance at Roy and Yumiko) Oooppps, sorry.
Roy: It’s ok. Well there’s this new “All-in” buffet somewhere. It has almost every
country’s dishes.
Alex: Wow! Sounds interesting.
Gillian: What are we waiting for? Let’s go!

Next day,
Shawn: Hi, everyone.
Edison: Wow! What makes you so happy today?
Shawn: Some things you guys always had along and I don't. But now I have it.
Gillian: We have you don't have ... Huh?
Alex: What do we have and you don't have?
Charlene: Money?
Cindy: Don't be silly. I think I know.
Edison: What's that?
Cindy: Love?
Shawn: (Smiles)
Charlene: Cindy is always the smart one.
Alex: And she's mine.
Cindy: Who's yours? (Hit Alex playfully)
Gillian: Who's that?
Alex: Cindy, of course.
Gillian: I'm not talking to you.
Alex: Oopppss. (Embarrassed)
Shawn: Keep guessing.
Edison: Come on. You and your guessing games.
Cindy: I know who. (Whispered into Shawn's ear)
Shawn: (Smile again)
Gillian: Who's that, Cindy?
Cindy: Use a little logic. Then you will know the answer.
Shawn: the teacher is coming!
Everyone rushes back to their places.
Gillian: (kicks Cindy's chair) Who is that person?
Cindy: You'll know during recess.
Gillian: Hump!
Charlene took a short glance at Shawn and saw him smiling all along.
Charlene: [Why am I feeling so disappointed? I can't like him anymore, I got Roy.
And he's really nice to me.]
Charlene turned back to the front and concentrate to the teacher.
During class,
Gillian: Urgh! Why is class so long today? (Looks at her watch) Recess has five
minutes to go.
Charlene: What are you mumbling there?
Gillian: Four minutes. Can't this watch go any faster?
Charlene: It will go faster if you set it faster.
Gillian: It's not helping. Three minutes.
Charlene: Why are you so eager to find out who's Shawn's girlfriend?
Gillian: He was after me before, remember? I just want to know how she looks
like.
Charlene: So you want to compare? You don't have to. Edison thinks you are the
best of any girl.
Gillian: Just like how Roy thought about you?
Charlene: Uh? I guess so.
Gillian: I have been talking so long and there's still two minutes?!
Charlene: Two minutes is short.
Gillian: One minute.
Charlene: You are weird.
Gillian: Ten, nine,eight ...... Four, three, two, one.
The recess bell rang,
Gillian: Yes! Finally.
At the canteen,
Gillian: Who is she?
Shawn: You will soon find out.
Just then a guy came looking for Shawn.
Guy: Shawn, your brother said he won't be going back with you today.
Shawn: Ok.
Gillian: It wasn't a "him" right?
Shawn: Of course it was not! I am absolutely normal.
Edison: You can admit. We'll still be friends although you are a gay.
Shawn: Don't crap.
Cindy: Hey Shawn, your friend is here.
Gillian: Who?
Yumiko: Hi.
Edison, Gillian, Alex and Charlene: Yumiko?
Yumiko: Yes?
Shawn: Don't mind them.
Yumiko: Where's Charlene?
Gillian: Roy asks her out somewhere.
Edison: So you and Shawn ... (both of his thumbs out)
Yumiko: Yup. (Hold Shawn's hand)
Edison: Congrats.
Alex: Let's go for lunch together after school. To celebrate there are no singles in
our group.
Gillian: Great idea. I'll tell Charlene later.
Cindy: That's all you know.
Alex: It's a good idea.
Cindy: People just got together and you want to waste their precious duo time.
Yumiko: We don't mind!
Edison: I think the one who mind is our Miss Au.
Cindy: What?! I don't mind! I'm just helping.
The end-of-recess bell saved Cindy. Everyone went back to their respective classes.

Edison: Gillian, alex and Cindy are coming over to my house later. Do you want to join us?
Shawn: Umm.. I don't think so. I'll send Yumiko home first.
Gillian: Ok. See you.
Shawn: Bye.
Yumiko: I live somewhere very far from here you don't have to send me back.
Shawn: It's ok. I don't have anything to do anyway.
Yumiko: Why didn't you join your friends?
Shawn: As you can see, they are all in pairs. I'm the only odd one out, It's a little
ankward for me.
Yumiko: You don't have a girlfriend?
Shawn: Isn't it obvious?
Yumiko: Aren't you planning to have one?
Shawn: Of course i do but no one want to have me, i guess. (sigh)
Yumiko: No way, you must have loads of admirers. You're cute, smart and you
played greatly at basketball.
Shawn: Wow!(blushed a little) Thanks for those comments.
Yumiko: Oh, ok. (blushed) Umm... actually... what kind of girl do you like?
Shawn: Me? As long as she's a girl... (laughs) Not funny?
Yumiko: Umm.... quite.
Shawn: I'm not very good at jokes. Umm... What kind of girl i like? I'm not really
sure about that. The most important thing is that she have a kind heart and a
good personality, that's more than enough.
Yumiko: That's all?
Shawn: What else do you expect?
Yumiko: I thought cute guys like you should like those pretty girls, smart and
everything good.
Shawn: You mean sugar and spice and everything nice?
Yumiko: Something like that.
Shawn: Who won't like someone as perfect as that? But i don't really mind all
these. As long as she has a good heart.
Yumiko: There something i want to tell you for a long time.
Shawn: What's that?
Yumiko: Ummm.... i like you.
Shawn: (stunned due to her courage to express her feelings so straight forwardly)
Yumiko: [Why? You don't feel the same?]
A long time of silence,
Shawn: (broke the silence) Umm... Are you serious?
Yumiko: Uh? I... You don't.... umm... Nevermind. I'l get going now.(turn and walks
away)
Shawn: Wait! (pulls her hand)
The both of them were now an (or maybe two or three) inch(es) away from each
other, staring into the opponent's eyes. Not long later, they kissed.
Shawn: Would you take that as a i like you too?
Yumiko: (blushing) Anything you want.
Shawn: Then that's what i want. (holds her hand) And now, i'm going to send you
home.

Edison: Gillian, alex and Cindy are coming over to my house later. Do you want to join us?
Shawn: Umm.. I don't think so. I'll send Yumiko home first.

Gillian: It's your decision, we'll just give you what we think you should do. You
decide what to do.
Roy: (waiting patiently)
Charlene: (back to reality) Uh? I think we should try it out.
Roy: Really?
Charlene: Umm yeah.
Roy: Thanks! So... see you after school?
Charlene: Ok.
After school,
Charlene: (running) Sorry i'm late.
Roy: It's ok.
Charlene: So? Where to?
Roy: Why don't you go back and change first? I'll meet you at your apartment.
Charlene: You know where's my apartment?
Roy: Uh?Ooopppss... I don't think so.
Charlene: (smiles) I'll write it down for you. (tear a page from her notebook and
scibbles her address down) Here.
Roy: Thanks. See you, ok?
Charlene: Ok.
An hour later,
The doorbell rang,
Charlene: (open the door) Hi.
Roy: Hi.
Charlene: Want to come in?
Roy: Ok. (went in) You don't live with your parents?
Charlene: Yup. How did you know?
Roy: By insticnt. Your apartment doesn't look like a family place, it looks more
teen in a way.
Charlene: Although i don't really understand but you have a point there. I live with my two friends.
Roy: It must be fun living away from your parents.
Charlene: Quite. But when it come to cooking and cleaning you'll wished that your parents were here.
Roy: Why?
Charlene: You guys never help out in house work before. It's really tiring.
Roy: I think i know that because i always have a hard time cleaning my room.
Charlene: So. Are we going out for lunch?
Roy: Yup. Where do you want to go?
Charlene: There's an Italian restaurant just open and they have a discount during
lunch breaks. Let's go there.
Roy: Fine with me.
At Edison's side, there was a friendly basketball match against some other school.
Shawn and Edison were playing and Alex, Cindy and Gillian were watching.
Gillian: Go Edison! Shoot! Great one!
Cindy: Hey, Edison scored again. (nudge Gillian)
Gillian: I know.
Alex: Shawn's with the ball now. Dodge him! Right!
Cindy: You sure are excited.
Alex: How can i not be? It's our school and buddies playing here.
Cindy: Someone else should be more excited but that person is not showing any response.
Gillian: (knowing that Cindy is talking to her but she ignored her. Anyway, how can she be not excited? Her heart was thumping like elephants running when Edison was shooting and she tried so hard not to yell her lungs out when Edison scored)
Later then, the game ended. Their school won the match.
Alex: Great job there.
Gillian: (pass a bottle of water to Edison) Congrats.
Edison: Thanks. That was really a tough game.
Cindy: (Gave Shawn a bottle of water) With him screaming beside me, i can't even hear the score.
Alex: Who? Me?
Cindy: Who else?
Alex: Sorry then. (place his arm around Cindy)
Edison: Without you guys supporting us there we might not win. (place his arm
around Gillian)
Gillian: Hey, your arms are sweaty! Don't touch me!
Edison: No they are not. I wipe them already. (pulled Gillian towards him)
Gillian: Eee!
Shawn: Stop your mushiness ok? I still want to eat here.
Alex: Oh yeah. Just as you've mentioned i'm a little hungry now.
Cindy: How can you be hungry? You didn't play.
Alex: I used my energy to cheer.
Shawn: Excuse me. I'm still here ok?
Cindy: Not any more.
Shawn: Huh? Oh, hi, Yumiko.
Yumiko: Hi. Can i talk to you for a minute?
Shawn: Sure. Excuse me.
Gillian: Go on, go on.
Edison: He's getting quite close with Yumiko these days.
Gillian: Maybe they will go together.
At Shawn's side,
Shawn: Yes?
Yumiko: I was thinking would you like to have lunch with me?
Shawn: Umm... I was just going to have lunch with my friends. If you don't mind,
you can join us.
Yumiko: Oh. That's ok then.
Shawn: You can join us if you like. You know them, right?
Yumiko: I don't think that's a good idea.
Shawn: Come on. They won't mind at all.
Yumiko: Ok.
Shawn: Good. Come on. (went over) Yumiko is joining us for lunch.
Edison: That's fine with us.

The doorbell rang,

Charlene: Should i accept him? I really like Shawn but he doesn't like me. Should i continue liking him? But what's the point of liking someone that don't like you? Roy a great guy but i just treat him as a friend, it will not be fair to him to accept him while my heart is still with Shawn. Ahhh!!!!(screamed, not very loud) What am i suppose to do?
Gillian and Cindy heard Charlene screamed although it's not very loud. The both of them looked up and looked at each other at the same time. Then, they went to

Gillian: That's your problem. (Busy typing on the computer)
Charlene: Where is Cindy?
Gillian: No idea.
Charlene: Wonder where she went so early in the morning?
On Cindy's side,
Cindy: Now, can you tell me what's the point of waking me up so early in the
morning of a school holiday?
Alex: So that we can have breakfast together. (Munching his sandwich)
Cindy: After that?
Alex: We'll decide that later ok?
Cindy: Whatever.
After breakfast, Cindy and Alex are walking together on the roadside. Alex is
trying hard to grab hold of Cindy's hand.
Alex: (thinking) Come on, come on. Yes! Got it!
Cindy: Hey!
Alex: What?
Cindy: This. (Holds up her hand which Alex is holding)
Alex: Why?
Cindy: Umm... Nothing. (Blushes)
Cindy saw a familiar face. That person was directing some workers to unload
some boxes into the shop. Cindy took a quick step to the shop and Alex followed. Cindy stood in front of the shop and stared into the shop. Later that person turned around and
Man: Cindy!
Cindy didn't answer.
Alex: Umm.. Cindy, I think he's calling you.
Cindy: No, he is not. Let's go. (Pulls his hand)
Alex: But..
Man: Cindy! Wait!
Alex: He is calling you, why don't you answer?
Man: Cindy! (Grab her shoulder)
Well, that made her stop.
Cindy: Yes?
Man: Aren't you supposed to greet your parents when you met them?

Mr. Au: Hi, Alex. Why are you running away from me?
Cindy: When did you come back?
Mr. Au: Last week. You haven't answer my question.
Cindy: The answer is there.

visit me but if I’m not mistaken, I just happen to know that you have came back. If I didn't bump on you today, you will just come and go, right?
Mr. Au: I'm a little busy with my work. I was planning to go over to your place.

Cindy: it's a good thing you still remember this daughter. Well, do you still
remember what school am I in?

marathon.

After eating,
Gillian: I wonder who paid for the lunch just now?
Edison: It's definitely not me because I didn't get up during eating.
Shawn: It's not me either.
Charlene: I dunno.
Cindy: Me too.
Alex: Same here.
Shawn: Then who's the one who paid?
Cindy: Let's don't care about the who-paid-for-the-lunch thing. Anywhere to later?

Cindy: Really? I should join this earlier ago.
Charlene: I still don't understand why you don't like running?
Cindy: Because I hate losing.
At school,
Shawn: Hi.
Charlene: Good morning.
Shawn: Good morning.
Charlene: It's almost time, let's go to the field.
Cindy: I have to go to the canteen. See you guys later.
Gillian: Ok, see you.
At the field,
Teacher: Ok students, before we start the marathon, you all are required to do your own warm up exercises.
After ten minutes,
Teacher: Alright everybody please line up according to your forms. We'll start with the form ones.
Twenty minutes later,
Teacher: Ok, now it's the form fives. Everyone stand in a line......Wait for the signal..... (BANG!) GO!
Everyone ran as fast as they could away from the starting line, Cindy was
looking at them as they run.
Cindy: Wow, everyone is so fast, luckily I’m not participating.
Yumiko: Cindy, you're in my group right?
Cindy: Yes.
Yumiko: Because you are new here I have to explain briefly about what we're
going to do later.
Cindy: Ok.
During the marathon journey, Charlene was leading but not long after that,
Shawn caught up with her.

Shawn: You're a fast runner.
Charlene: You too. Are the guys supposed to turn in here?
Shawn: Oh yeah, See you later.
Charlene: Ok. (thinking) At last, he is talking to me without asking anything
about Gillian. (Smiled and that gave her strength to kept running)

Cindy: There are so many benefits being here. Firstly, I don't have to run and
that's the main thing I joined this. Secondly, I don't have to do anything here.
Yumiko: Who are you talking to?
Cindy: Umm.. no one.
Student: Yumiko, Cindy, there's someone sprained his ankle.
Yumiko: Where is he?
Student: Over there. (pointing)
Cindy: I guess I spoke too soon.
Yumiko: Pardon?
Cindy: Nothing.
Student: There he is.

Alex: Hi Cindy.
Yumiko: You two know each other?
Cindy: Yes, he's my classmate.
Yumiko: So you want to heal him?
Cindy: Ok.

So, with a little help from Cindy, Alex managed to get to the tent.

Alex: (Took of his shoes)
Cindy: Eeww, what a smell. Smells like salted fish.
Alex: Hey!
Cindy: Just kidding. Now, if it hurts you'll have to inform me ok?
Cindy carefully pour the medicine on Alex's ankle and start rubbing it gently.
Alex: (staring at her while she's doing it)
Cindy: Hello? Is there something wrong?
Alex: Huh? Ummm... I mean no.
Cindy: I finish here. Can you move your foot?
Alex: ( try to move his feet) I think so, but it hurts a little.
Cindy: It hurts? Then don't move it. I'll bandage it now and we'll do the rest back
in school.
After everyone who are running got to the finish line.
Headmaster: (author: some sort of boring speech that headmasters always give)
And now, for the part where everyone is waiting here are the top fifteen runners'
list. (starting from form one.........) Here are the form fives' the fifteenth runner
is...,
the 14th, the 13th, the 12th is Gillian Chung from 5A, the 11th..............and now the first and the champion of the form five girls group marathon is Charlene Choi from 5A. (big applause) For the form five boys group the 15th is ............ the 6th is Edison Chen from 5A, the 5th...... and the first and the champion of the form five boys group marathon in Shawn Yue from 5A. Well, both of the girls' and boys' champion are from 5A, what a coincidence. Our annual marathon have come to an end. So, with a little help from Cindy, Alex managed to get to the tent.

Alex: (Took of his shoes)
Cindy: Eeww, what a smell. Smells like salted fish.

Cindy carefully pour the medicine on Alex's ankle and start rubbing it gently.
Alex: (staring at her while she's doing it)
Cindy: Hello? Is there something wrong?
Alex: Huh? Ummm... I mean no.
Cindy: I finish here. Can you move your foot?
Alex: ( try to move his feet) I think so, but it hurts a little.
Cindy: It hurts? Then don't move it. I'll bandage it now and we'll do the rest back
in school.
After everyone who are running got to the finish line.
Headmaster: (author: some sort of boring speech that headmasters always give)

the 14th, the 13th, the 12th is Gillian Chung from 5A, the 11th..............and now the first and the champion of the form five girls group marathon is Charlene Choi from 5A. (big applause) For the form five boys group the 15th is ............ the 6th is Edison Chen from 5A, the 5th...... and the first and the champion of the form five boys group marathon in Shawn Yue from 5A. Well, both of the girls' and boys' champion are from 5A, what a coincidence. Our annual marathon have come to an end. Charlene: He'll ask Gillian out, not me. I guess we'll have to be friends forever.
Cindy: I don't understand, why would he ask Gillian out?
Charlene: Because he likes Gillian.
Cindy: How would you know?
Charlene: You saw me talking to him but you didn't hear our topic. He asked everything about Gillian, isn't that obvious? Well, he even admitted that he like Gillian.

Charlene: I sure hope so.

Cindy: Well, I’m in the St. John Ambulance nursing team.

Alex: Yup and here it is. (Holding up a plastic bag with two pollster box in it)

Alex: I thought you might be hungry after the meeting. So, I went and buy takeaway for you.

Alex: You want chicken rice or "char siew" (roasted pork) rice?
Cindy: Chicken rice.
Alex: Ok, here you go. (Hand her a pollster box) Then, let's go find somewhere to eat.
Cindy: Ok. How much is the rice? I have to pay you back.
Alex: Never mind.
Cindy: Yes, yes. You should mind. You had taken all the trouble buying it.

Alex: Edison, the girls, and me.

At the restaurant (it's the same restaurant as mentioned in chapter 4, which had three sittings on each side)
Edison and Alex sat right inside; Gillian and Cindy were waiting to see where Shawn sits.
Shawn: Ladies first.

Edison: What are you doing? Just sit down.
Gillian went to sit beside Edison and Cindy wanted to sit beside her but Shawn was quicker than she was. So, Cindy went to sit with Alex and Charlene sat beside her.
Alex: (whispered to Cindy) Anything wrong sitting with me?
Cindy: No. (whispered back)
Alex: Then what's wrong?
Cindy: We wanted Shawn to sit beside Charlene but he just didn't.
Alex: Never mind, we still have plan B.
Cindy: What plan B?
Alex: We can leave them alone later.

After eating,
Cindy: Alex and I are going to buy some things so catch you guys later.
Edison: Since when you two were together?

Charlene: What were you two doing at his house?

Cindy: He just wants me to teach him how to cook.
Gillian: That's all?
Charlene: That won't have to take the whole afternoon right?
Cindy: What else were you two thinking that I’m doing with him?
Charlene: Maybe you two just realized that you guys were in love with each other.
Cindy: Oh, come on you guys. You know I’m not suitable for love. I'm not pretty, boring, stupid and most of all not sporty.
Gillian: You're not stupid, you are always the first in class.
Charlene: Nor boring, and you're pretty too.
Cindy: Whatever. I'm just not perfect.

Cindy: I don't care. Now, will you two give me a break?

Cindy: No idea, maybe a new student.
Charlene: He's cute.
Gillian: Yeah.
Cindy: Gil, you had Eddie already. You should stop starring at him.
Edison: Hey, what do you mean by that?
Charlene: Come on Ed, it's so obvious that you and Gil are together.

Cindy: Well, it's their secret. So we should not say too much. As long as they know they are together and stay like that.

Just then, Flora comes in. After greeting her, she called the new student to the front.

At Alex's house,
Cindy: Alright, what do you want me to do first?
Alex: Cook.
Cindy: Ok, come on. (Pulls Alex to the kitchen)
In the kitchen,
Cindy: What do you want me to cook?
Alex: Anything. It's up to you.
Cindy: Why don't we start with cooking the rice first? Then we'll cook the dishes.
Alex: Ok.
Cindy: Where's your rice cooker?
Alex: There. (Pointing to a corner)
Cindy: Oh, (took the rice cooker and hand it over to Alex) here you go.
Alex: Huh?
Cindy: Cook the rice, of course.
Alex: Oh. (Puts in the rice)
Cindy: Hey, it's just two of us here. We don't need that much. (Puts some back in)
Alex: Am I suppose to wash it?
Cindy: Yes.
Alex: (thinking) hmm.. This is easy. (On the tab and start washing)
Cindy: No,no, you don't wash it like that. Here, I’ll show you how. (Puts her hand over Alex's and guide him)
Alex: (thinking) She's holding my hands again. Why am I having this kind of funny feeling again?
Cindy: Hello, anybody home? (Waving her hands in front of Alex's face.)
Alex: Uh, yes?
Cindy: now, you will cook the rice.
Alex: Right. (Puts in the rice and on the switch) Now what?
Cindy: Is it ok if I use the things in the fridge?
Alex: Go on.
Cindy took out some ingredients from the fridge and start cooking.
After an hour,
Cindy: At last, we're done.
Alex: It wasn't very hard.
Cindy: These are just simple dishes. If you want to learn more, you can learn from your mum.
Alex: Let's take these out.
After laying the dishes on the table, they started eating.
Alex: Do you girls cook at home?
Cindy: We seldom cook. But sometimes I’ll cook the rice and they will buy some extra dishes.
Alex: But you're quite a good cook.
Cindy: Well, I help out in the kitchen when I was staying with my family.
Alex: May I ask you something?
Cindy: Of course you can.
Alex: If you find it too personal, you can choose to not answer. Why didn't you follow your parents to Australia?
Cindy: (stops smiling) Umm..
Alex: You don't really have to answer.
Cindy: That's nothing. It's just because my parents just work the whole day and don't really cares about me. But they weren't like that before my dad got a promotion, after that, all they care about is money.
Alex: Oh, (trying to change the topic) the school's marathon is near.
Cindy: Oh yes, I nearly forgot about that.
Alex: The news just came out yesterday.
Cindy: It's always about this time in the year. Are you planning to win it this year?
Alex: I don't really plan to, just do the best I could. But being one of the top fifteen will be good.
Cindy: But you run fast during the 100 metres
Alex: I’m lack of stamina. How about you?
Cindy: I'm thinking of an excuse to not participate.
Alex: Why?
Cindy: Well, what's the point of participating if you know that you'll surely be the last who reach the finish line.
Alex: How would you know? Maybe you might be the top fifteen this year.
Cindy: If there are only fourteen people running.
Alex: Come on, don't be so pessimistic.
Cindy: I'm going to wash the dishes. (Stacking up the plates)
Alex: But you're a guest, I’m the one who is supposed to wash dishes.
Cindy: I'm used to washing dishes. I always wash them at home.
Alex: You don't have to. (Took the plates away from her)
Cindy: I'd already had a free lunch. I should do something.
Alex: You can wash half of these.
Cindy: Ok.
In the kitchen,
Alex and Cindy are washing the dishes.
Cindy: Honestly, do you know how to wash dishes?
Alex: Of course I do, can't you see?
Cindy: No, I can't but I can see that you have washed that plate twice already.
Alex: I just want it to be twice as clean.
Cindy: Yeah right. (Flick some water to Alex's face)
Alex: Of course I’m right, I’m always right. (Did the same thing to Cindy)
Then both of them started playing with water, just like little kids.
In the living room,
Cindy: You've got a playstation.
Alex: Yeah, so?
Cindy: Wow, you've got a dance mat too.
Alex: I thought you girls had one too.
Cindy: We didn't play with it for a long time and it's deep inside the cupboard which
you'll feel lazy to search for it even though you want to play with it.
Alex: Oh, I play with it all the time.
Cindy: Can I have a go?
Alex: Sure.
Soon, Cindy took out the dance mat and the playstation and on it,
Cindy: It's so long since I did this.
The music started and she started "dancing".
Alex: (thinking) Wow, she's so good.
Cindy: (turned to Alex) Come on, take out the other mat and we'll have a two player’s game.
Alex: Ok.
Both of them began "dancing".
