Chapter 4
In school,
although Gillian didn't admit that she liked Edison but Cindy and Charlene understand her all along. During break time, Charlene and Cindy managed to get a hold of Edison after his basketball practice.

Cindy: Eddie! Over here. (Waving)

Edison: What?

Charlene: Wanna ask you a few questions.

Edison: Ok.

Charlene: What do you think of Gillian?

Cindy gave Charlene a you-don't-have-to-be-so-straight-forward look. Charlene: caught it and kept quiet.

Edison: Gillian? Well, she's pretty, a little dreamy...haha

Cindy: What so funny?

Edison: Do you remember the time that she said she wanted a baby purple unicorn as a birthday present? Hahaha...

Charlene: What's wrong with that?

Edison: Don't you think it's a little childish?

Cindy: I think it's cute.

Charlene: yeah, I think so too. You shouldn't laugh at her like that. I bet you can't even imagine.

Edison: Hey, cool down girls. It's just a little joke.

Cindy: It's not little at all. You'll hurt Gillian if you say that in front of her.

Charlene: Yeah, she never even makes fun of your sense of dressing.

Edison: What's wrong with the both of you. Alright, I’m sorry I made fun of
Gillian’s imagination. I apologize ok?

Charlene: That's better. You make sure you treat Gillian well...

Edison: Huh?

Cindy: She means don't make fun of her.

Edison: Why are you guys so strange today?

Charlene: Are we? Oh no. We're very normal today.

Cindy: (whispers to Charlene) now you just keep quiet. You're making him suspicious.

Edison: Yes?

Cindy: Oh nothing. You can get on with your basketball practice.

Edison: Ok. See you girls later.

After Edison ran to the court,

Cindy: Charlene, Why are you so straightforward?

Charlene: What do you expect me to do? Smile at him and ask him to guess what I’m thinking?

Cindy: Ugh... whatever. I'm worried if he tell Gil that we ask this entire silly
questions.

Charlene: Then Gil will bash us up.

Cindy: What should we do now?

Charlene: Nothing.

Cindy: Why?

Charlene: Because I don't think he will tell Gil.

Cindy: I sure hope so.

Charlene: What some ice cream? My treat.

Cindy: Of course.

At the canteen,

Charlene: (after paying for the ice cream) Where do you want to go?

Cindy: Aren't we going to wait for Gillian?

Gillian: (from the back of Charlene) Looking for me?

That made Charlene jumped and had ice-cream all around her mouth,

Charlene: Hey! What did you do that for?

Gillian: For fun.

Cindy: Want a bite? (Handing Gillian her ice-cream)

Gillian: Sure. (Took a big bite)

Cindy: hey!

Gillian: (put her hand onto her mouth and puff some cold air) Sorry.

Charlene: Are we going home?

Cindy: ok.

The next day,

Everyone was chatting happily in class while waiting for Miss Chan.

Charlene: Cindy, can I borrow your notes?

Cindy: Sure, (searches her bag) here you go.

Gillian: Why are you copying her notes again?

Charlene: I'm not copying. Cindy notes have some information that even textbooks don't have. I'm just taking those down.

Gillian: It's because she looks through the revision books.

Alex: Hello. Wow! Cindy, your notes fitted two pages.

Cindy: So?

Alex: Mine's only a page and a half and my writing is much bigger than yours is.

Gillian: She had a lot of extra notes from revision books.

Edison: It must be fun studying together. You guys get to discuss the notes and understand it better.

Charlene: Not if Cindy’s not around. She always the one explains.

Cindy blushed slightly.

Alex: Cindy's always the smart one. It's not odd.

After school,

Edison: Do you guys want to go out together for lunch.

Charlene: Ermmm...

Edison: My treat?

Charlene: Yeah!

At the restaurant, The sittings were three on each side. After Alex sat in, Cindy and Charlene quickly sat beside him. So that Gillian had to sit with Edison, Gillian gave a some-friends-you-are look and sat on the opposite side. Edison sat down after her.

Alex: let's order now.

After a round of ordering,

Edison: You girls can sure eat but how come you're still so thin.

Charlene: (giving a fake sigh) it's a curse.

Edison: Yeah right.

Cindy: Do you guys have anywhere to go after this?

Edison: No, what do you have in mind?

Cindy: Wanna come to our place?

Charlene and Gillian stared at her,

Cindy: (caught the stares and tried to think of an excuse) So that.......we can..... do our homework together.

Alex: That's great! But I’ll have to call back home first to inform my parents that I’m going back later.

Charlene: Good boy. What about you, Ed?

Edison: My parents are not at home until the evening, it's really boring alone at home so... why not?!

Cindy: Good. The food's here! Let eat!
