“So what does this have to do with me? Is it because dad helped stopped the dark lord from killing so now he is after me?” Janet clearly got this idea from movies she has watched which usually people will look for the successor for revenge.
“No, dear. The dark lord has been defeated. He has been defeated by a boy, James Potter’s son, Harry Potter. That is why he is a legend now in the wizarding world. He was the only person alive who had survived the dark lord and weaken him as well. Many said he is dead but I swear that I didn’t see any other bodies besides James and Lily Potter, nobody found his body anywhere.”
“So, what does all these have to do with me then? What are you and mom protecting me from? The dark lord is no longer around.” Janet paused suddenly and exclaimed, “Do you think Harry Potter thinks dad is responsible for his father’s death? Is that why we are hiding?”
And obviously, Janet watched too much television.
“Not that dear, it’s not that dramatic,” Emily smiled at her daughter’s innocence. “You wouldn’t understand how terrible it is with the dark lord around in the wizarding world, nobody could do anything to stop him. Only Harry Potter defeated him as a baby and nobody knows how. You see your father is a sentinel it’s an ancient heritage and usually it’s inherited to their children, sons specifically, but for our case, it might be you. Well, being a sentinel isn’t easy as I have seen how your dad suffers from his duties. I don’t want the same thing happening to you because if you are a sentinel means that you’ll be guarding Harry Potter and he is the first name in the dark lord’s to-be-destroyed list! Imagine how dangerous it will be for Janet!” The last sentence was actually said for Dumbledore to hear.
Anyhow, Dumbledore got the message and said, “I’ll try my very best to let her have a normal and peaceful life like all other students. However I do think that it will be a pity if she doesn’t have the chance to learn what her parents have learned before when they were her age. Do you think so, Janet?”
“I…” Janet was taught to answer whenever she was addressed to but this time, she’s not trying to be rude but she couldn’t really answer. She can see that her parents are not pleased with the idea of her going back to her actual life and she should be obeying her parents but deep down inside her, she wanted to go to Hogwarts. She wanted to experience what her parents have learned in school. She wants to know the life her parents have been going through before she was born. She wants to be a witch!
