“Morning dear, have your breakfast.” Emily
push a plate of bacon, toast and eggs towards Janet at the dining table.
“Thanks, mom.” Janet ate breakfast while
she eyes her parents eagerly for more information about the wizarding world but
her parents said nothing while eating breakfast or washing the dishes. Slightly
disappointed, Janet moved to the living room and turned on the television.
Emily sensed her daughter’s disappointment but said nothing, she winked at
David and open the window, a barn owl swept pass at swooped into the living
room. Janet yelped and dropped the remote when the barn owl flew pass her, she
is still not used to owls flying around her. The owl perch on the arm rest of
the sofa and stretch its leg out. Still startled, Janet stared at the note tie
on its leg without moving.
“You are supposed to untie the note, dear.”
Emily mentioned casually.
“Oh, will the owl peck or bite me?” Janet
asks just in case.
“No dear, as you can see it is holding
something in its beak.” David assured.
Janet looks at the owl’s beak and saw a
rectangular size package dangling on a piece of string, feeling a little
relieve that its beak is busy, she untied the note from the leg of the owl and
read.
“Good
Morning Janet,
I believe your parents have filled you in
with the information regarding our world. Here I present you a little gift that
will clear your worries of not being able to keep up due to your lack of
knowledge towards magic. I believe your mother will be pleased to see it again.
Sincerely
Albus
Dumbledore”
As she is done reading the note, the owl
dropped the package on her lap and flew off. Janet pick up the package and pull
off the brown wrapping paper off, a brown notebook fell onto her lap. Emily
squealed when she saw the notebook.
“What is it?” startled by her mother’s
squeal, Janet hold still thinking that the notebook is going to explode if she
moves.
“That, is mine.” Emily points at the
scarlet notebook lying on Janet’s lap.
“Oh, you don’t have to squeal like that. I
thought it was going to explode.” Janet replied with a certain annoyance in her
tone.
“Things won’t just explode,” David explain.
“How am I supposed to know? I’m still not
used to all these magic stuff, I just react base on instinct.” Janet explained
defensively.
“Alright, you’ll get used to it. Who sent
you that notebook?” David tried changing the topic.
“Albus Dumbledore.” Janet read from the
note.
“Professor Dumbledore kept my notebook; I
left it at our old house before we move here. Janet, this will be able to help
you get through classes, it has all my notes about everything you are going to
learn in Hogwarts.” Emily explains with excitement.
Janet flips through the notebook and saw
words like “Locomotor”, “Accio” and a whole lot of terms that she has never
came across before, “It sure looks different. What is taught there.”
“You will get through it. Don’t worry too
much.” Emily gave a confident pat on Janet’s shoulder.
