1. Harry Potter (Panda's version) -Featuring Janet Hayden - Chapter 4

All of a sudden, the focus of the whole room was switched towards Janet.
Janet stared around the room for a reason for her to escape the focus while Dumbledore spoke again, “Janet, I believe you have got the admission letter from Hogwarts which I specially sent it specifically into your hands instead of your parents.”
“Oh, you mean this thing?” Janet pulled out the piece of parchment from her jeans pocket and showed it to Dumbledore.
“Ah, Yes. I believe you understand the contents of the letter saying that you are now accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” Dumbledore looked at the piece of parchment on Janet’s hand and looked at Janet again with his twinkling blue eyes.
“I do understand the literal meaning of the letter but are you telling me that this is all real? I mean I thought it was a joke, a Halloween joke, you see. With the owls, witches and things, aren’t those linked to Halloween?” Janet answered while avoiding Dumbledore’s eyes. There is something about those eyes, it seems like it could see through thoughts or something although they don’t bore into you and search for answers but they have a soft gaze that slowly penetrates into your mind.
“Indeed, I believe,” Dumbledore smiled after hearing her answer. “A smart girl like you will definitely link all these to a Halloween joke while others might just treat it as their imagination went wild and forget about it minutes later. But, what if these things are real? Would you like to go to a school like that? A school of magic.”
“I will have to change schools then. Hence, I don’t think I will accept that offer. I have been doing quite well in my school and I have just been offered a scholarship to continue my studies. I don’t think I’d want to give up all that to a school that I’m not familiar of. Anyway, I have zero background in magic, witchcraft or whatever do you call it that is taught in that school so I guess I’ll never be able to cope with all those unfamiliar stuff compare to those that I’m studying now.” Janet answered honestly, there’s no way she’ll be giving up what she have been working so hard for, the scholarship to Queen Anne's.
“I think we should respect Janet’s decision. If she wants to stay here then she shall stay here. Nothing should change.” Emily Hayden voice out suddenly, after her long silence during Dumbledore and her daughter’s conversation.
Dumbledore knew that convincing the Haydens to return to their actual world will not be easy after all these years they have been shifting away from that world and adapted themselves to world they call home now. However, he can still see certain eagerness in David Hayden that he missed his world. “So I believe you will agree with your wife, wouldn’t you, David?”
“I…” David shot a nervous look at his wife, who shot back a no-we-don’t-want-to-go-back look. “I think we should go with Janet’s decision.” Emily’s tensed face finally broke into a slight encouraging smile to her husband. “if Janet doesn’t want to go, then here we stay.” David spoke while holding firmly to his wife’s hand.
“Wait!”
Emily and David both were startled at their daughter’s words.
“What is it, Janet?” Dumbledore saw his chance.
Janet finally got the chance to raise out all the questions that have been circling in her mind, “Although I’m not changing schools but I want to know what this is all about. Why are owls sending letters and all these so-called magic stuff? Why am I the only one who thinks it’s weird for owls to send letters while mom and dad, you act as though it happens everyday? And why, all of a sudden, I was told that I have a place in a school of magic when I no knowledge or know anything about magic?”
“Ah! I have been waiting for you to ask. I believe your parents owe you an explanation about all your questions.” Dumbledore said while smiling at David and Emily Hayden.
David looked as though he had something stuck in his throat and Emily was as pale as ever. But it was Emily who said, “Maybe there are things that Janet has to know.”
“What’s that I have to know?”
“Janet,” Emily said in a shaky voice, “you are a witch.”

1. Harry Potter (Panda's version) -Featuring Janet Hayden - Chapter 3

“We’ll just have to try our best to stop her no matter what. I don’t want her to go through what you are going through now. We just can’t risk it. She’s our only daughter; I couldn’t bear to see her suffer,” Mrs. Hayden said, as her eyes began to water.
“I don’t want this to happen to her too. We’ll try our best to stop her then,” said Mr Hayden with certain firmness in his voice.
It wasn’t long until the sun sets, and there was a soft knock on Janet’s door with her mother’s voice telling her that’s it’s almost dinner time.
Janet has been reading and re-reading the letter she received this afternoon, she realized that the letter was not written in ordinary paper but in some kind of rough yellowish paper which she never seen before and its written in green ink instead of the usual computer-typed black and white letters. Everything is weird about this letter; in fact it looked like those parchments that Janet used to see in history books where agreements were made.
Janet helped her dad down the stairs. David Hayden was tall and gangly but looked very sickly as he walked into the living room slowly as if he’s going to collapse anytime.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
“Janet, could you get the door?” Mrs. Hayden yelled from the kitchen.
“Ok.” Janet answered the door thinking that it’s the pizza delivery boy but however the man standing in front of the doorway is not holding any pizzas, he’s not wearing a usual pizza boy uniform but long robes and a long purple cloak which looks kind of weird for Janet. And, there was no cap; instead the man was wearing a long pointed hat like the one which were worn by wizards in fairy tales. He has light blue eyes, a long crooked nose, long silvery hair and beard, which were both long enough to tuck into his belt.
“Hi.” Janet greeted politely. “May I help you?”
“I’m Albus Dumbledore. I’m here to meet the Haydens. I believe you must be Janet,” answered the man.
“Er… Yes.” Janet nodded suspiciously because how could this man know her name, where as they have never met before.
“I assume that you are going to invite me in,”
“Uh? Er… Ok. Please come in.” Janet said uncertainly and showed him into the living room.
“Who is that at the door, Janet?” Mr Hayden who was reading the daily newspaper asked without looking up from he’s newspaper.
“Dad, this is Mr. Dumbledore. He said he’s here to meet us.”
Mr Hayden looked up immediately after he heard the name and quickly jerked up and asked nervously as if he did something wrong waiting to be scold because of that, “Professor Dumbledore, what brings you here?”
“Professor?” Janet eyed Dumbledore uncertainly.
“Nice to see you again, David,” greeted Dumbledore.
“Janet, go get your mother.” Mr Hayden whispered a little too loudly to Janet which obviously was overheard by Dumbledore.
Janet ran into the kitchen, “Mom, there’s a man called Dumbledore says that he is here to meet us and dad’s calling him professor.”
Mrs. Hayden dropped the plate she was washing with a loud “clank” into the basin. “What did you say his name was again?”
“Dumbledore. Who is he?”
Mrs. Hayden wiped her hands quickly on her jeans and rushed out of the kitchen into the living room.
“Ahh… Here’s Emily. I believe everything is going well.” Dumbledore greeted as Mrs. Hayden walked into the living room.
Mrs. Hayden stopped so suddenly that Janet almost bumped into her.
“Good evening, professor,” Mrs. Hayden greeted, her voice trembling.
“It’s a very pleasant evening indeed. Let’s all be seated,” spotting Janet moving towards the stairs. “And you too, Janet.
Janet moved nervously towards the sofa furthest from Dumbledore and sat lightly on it as though she was ready to run for it whenever anything happens.
“I believe you got my letter,” Dumbledore said politely, “I’m here to listen to your answers.”
“I’m not letting Janet go to Hogwarts. It’s just not safe. Look at what happen to David, I don’t want the same thing happening to my daughter.” Emily Hayden replied firmly.
“So this whole Hogwarts thing is real?” Janet thought to herself. “Then why are mum and dad hiding this from me? What is that that I have to know but they are not telling me?”
“I understand your concerns, Emily. But I suggest Janet deserves to make her own choice in this matter?” said Dumbledore.
“But you don’t understand, professor. Janet has been crying painfully when that incident happened. There’s no doubt that Janet is just like her father.” Emily protested Dumbledore’s idea.
Meanwhile, Janet was sitting at the far end trying hard to resist the urge of asking questions as it will be rude if she just simply open her mouth and ask a dozen of questions at once.
“Professor, I understand that everybody who is a witch or wizard must pursue his or her education in Hogwarts but can’t we just give up that opportunity? We prefer living like what we are now.” David explained.
Dumbledore caught Janet’s eye and nodded as though he could read Janet’s mind which is full of curiosity, “I believe Janet would like to say a few words before we continue this issue.”

1. Harry Potter (Panda's version) -Featuring Janet Hayden - Chapter 2

HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY
Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock,
Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)
Dear Miss Hayden,
We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
Mr Hayden eyed her daughter nervously as she read the letter.
After reading, Janet looks back up at her father from the letter and pass the letter to her father. “What’s this? Is it a joke or something?”
“It might be,” Mr Hayden answered, relieved that Janet did not take the contents in the letter seriously.
“This looks like some kind of April fool joke but its July now, it can’t be an April Fool joke.”
“Maybe it got delayed somewhere.”
“This is weird,” said Janet as she pocketed the letter. “Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? What’s this place? Witches and wizards sounds more like Halloween to me, maybe it’s an early Halloween joke,” Janet muttered to herself as she walked out of her father’s study room.
Janet shut herself in her room for the whole afternoon, thinking about all the weird things that happened today. First, there were owls all over the place and sent me this weird letter about she’d been accepted to this witch school that she have never applied for. However, the weirdest of all are her parents’ behavior after seeing owls delivers letters. It’s not an ordinary thing for owls to be swooping all over the place, not to mention delivering letters but her parents show no sign of shock seeing them around the place and even knows that they are delivering letters as they retrieve them as if they are ones who delivers posts instead of postmen.
In the other room, Janet’s parents were really anxious about something.
“She’s got the letter.”
“You let her took it? Did she read it?”
“She did but I don’t think she is taking it seriously, thinks it’s a joke or something.”
“But it’s still coming to us. We just can’t leave it and now Janet’s getting it too,” said Mrs. Hayden.
“Maybe that’s something we can’t escape from. Who we really are. Do you reckon than we should tell Janet the truth?” Mr Hayden suggested but Mrs. Hayden shook her head furiously.
“No. Not even a word to her. After all these years, I’m not going to give up. I’m sure we’ll be able to stay away from this. It’s for our own good. I’m not convinced that You-know-who is dead. You said you didn’t see any other bodies besides James and Lily Potter. He’s not dead, David. I just know he isn’t.”
“I understand. But she’s got the letter, the school is aware of her existence, at least Dumbledore is. I don’t think we can stop her from going with Dumbledore as headmaster. And I’ve got this from him just before Janet received her letter.” Mr. Hayden took out a piece of parchment from his pocket and passes it to his wife.
Mrs. Hayden unfolds the parchment and read:
Dear David & Emily,
I have always been aware that you wanted a peaceful life for your family. However, I believe Janet deserves to know the truth about the wizarding world. Her name has been in the Hogwarts’ list ever since she was born, and I will secure her a place no matter what happens. We are not certain if Janet has inherited the pleasant gift of her father’s, and her relationship with Harry Potter but I may do all my best to free her from those ties and give her the normal and peaceful life that her parents risked so much for her. If my letter has not cleared your doubts about her entry into Hogwarts, I may drop by and explain furthermore about this.
Yours Truly,
Albus Dumbledore

1. Harry Potter (Panda's version) -Featuring Janet Hayden - Chapter 1

It was a very pleasant evening in Cherry Lane, Janet Hayden was walking home from school humming a happy tune, and it seems that nothing will spoil her merry mood today. But, what she didn’t know was something will happen today and it will change her life from then.
“Mum, I’m home! What are we having for dinner today?”
“We are ordering pizza today. We were just back from your dad’s medical check up.”
“Ok, where’s dad? I have something to show you.”
“He’s upstairs. What is that you want to show us?”
“It’s a surprise. I’ll go get dad.” Janet answered while rushing upstairs to call her father.
There was a sudden rustle at the window, Janet took a glimpse at the source of the sound and yelled, “MOM! There’s an owl at our window!”
Emily Hayden looked at the owl as if it’s really normal for an owl to perch on the windowsill. She opens the window and unties an envelope from the owl’s leg and patted the owl as it took off.
“What’s that?” Janet eyed the envelope suspiciously not leaving the stairs fearing that the owl might fly in if the window is still open.
“Oh, it’s nothing important.” Mrs. Hayden answered without even opening the envelope and pocketed it straight away.
“Why is it sent by an owl? That’s so weird.”
“I don’t know. Why don’t you go get your dad and show us your surprise?”
Just then, the postman arrived and slipped a yellow envelope through the letter slot on the door but Mrs. Hayden picked it up immediately and pocketed it as well without even looking at it.
“Who is it for?”
“Me.”
“Ok. I’ll go get dad.”
Janet knocked and opens the door of her father’s study room.
“Dad? Are you busy?”
“Not really. I’ll just have to process these orders and send it to the warehouse.” David Hayden works at home as an online shopping dealer, his health conditions had made him impossible to get a job outside.
Suddenly, Janet noticed another owl perching on the window behind her father.
“Dad, there’s an owl. Behind you.”
“Oh, not to worry. It won’t hurt you.” He got to the window and unties the envelope attached on the leg of the owl. Mr. Hayden’s attitude is exactly the same as his wife as if owls carrying post are as normal as the postman.
“Is that a letter?” Janet asked, eying the envelope.
“This?” Mr. Hayden answered as though he just noticed that Janet seen the envelope and quickly pocket it. “Nothing important. Just some bills.”
“What place will send bills through an owl?”
“Maybe they are trying something different. So what are you up to?” trying to change the topic to distract Janet from the envelope.
“Oh, that. I’ve just got a scholarship for Queen Anne's School,” Sounding not as excited as she was before after seeing 2 owls and the weird acts of her parents.
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah, Ms. Furton said that my chances are high.”
“Wow, well done. That’s my girl,” Mr Hayden cheered happily for his daughter.
Just then, an owl swooped into the room through the opened window and dropped something on Janet’s hand. It flew out before Janet could scream.
“What! Why are there owls in our area? Aren’t they supposed to be in zoos? And what is this?” Holding up the envelope in her hands and her eyes widen while looking at the receiver’s name. “It’s for me,” she said as her hands are trembling while opening the envelope....

Harry Potter (Panda's version) -Featuring Janet Hayden - Forewords

I know practically all of you out there are already very familiar with the Harry Potter series... regardless that you knew it through the movies or books and novels... i'm currently presenting my version of Harry Potter... I'm not going to change the storyline.. it will go along with with the flow of the actual story... besides that, i'll be adding a new character into the story and instead... the story will be on that character's perspective...

This story is written mainly just for self entertainment... so i hope i will not be offending any Harry Potter fans out there... I'll be using most of the magical terms and stuff originally from the book and also invent some of my own... if i could think if any, that is...

I have not completed the whole story... All these while i have been scribbling bits and pieces of the story here and there and sometimes end up losing the bits and pieces as i have already did.. so please bear with the very likely of me encountering the writer's block... which will bring forward to lack of updates....

Now, it's time to introduce a little of my story... My little new character is Janet Hayden... a witch (obviously!!! or else how could she be linked to the harry potter story) pure blood, mom, Emily Hayden, and dad, David Hayden... Same age as Harry Potter... But, I have changed the time frame of the story to a more current era with internet instead of the original 90s...

I'm so not good at doing character introduction.... so i guess this is all i have to reveal... as for the rest... I'll just leave it for you to explore as the story goes on...

I sure hope it'll turn out ok.....
